We all have skills and talents. How do we use those to Give Back in our communities? Hands in Service has numerous opportunities for volunteers like you to support and advance Love and care in our communities. Events are fun and short term, help us create awareness and the necessary funding to continue service; Leadership moves us forward and provides foundation for us to grow and develop in meeting needs.
Whether it’s delivering a food hamper, preparing a meal, or vacuuming the carpet, volunteering is easy. It’s flexible and requires little time commitment. We often don’t realize how much even a brief moment together means to someone who is isolated, hurting and alone. Once you give love back through Hands In Service, you will find that the love that you have will be forever changed. It will be broader and deeper because we are made to give it.
Check back often, or contact us about your particular skills and talents. Giving Back is one of the most rewarding things you can do for your community and yourself.
Energetic Hands Volunteer
Energetic Hands is a long-term cleaning and cooking support program for Hands In Service clients who are unable to perform basic household tasks for themselves. Volunteers cook and clean for clients on an ongoing basis, providing practical and relational support.
Time Commitment: 4 hours/month (3 month commitment requested)
Blitz Team Volunteer
In teams of 2 or more people, Blitz volunteers perform one-time cleaning assignments for clients; clearing out the clutter while restoring a sense of hope and dignity to those who desperately need it.
This is a great opportunity for families, teams, friends, youth groups, or individuals who wish to serve on an occasional basis but cannot commit to a consistent schedule.
Time Commitment: Flexible 2-3 hour assignments depending on volunteer availability.
Food Hamper Delivery
Many Food Bank clients have physical disabilities or mobility problems that do not allow them to pick up their food hampers on-site.
Hands In Service Food Bank Drivers deliver food from community food banks to clients who are housebound. They also deliver Kelowna Food Bank Tiny Bundles: a program for new mothers with children from pregnancy through to age 1 that provides weekly supplemental food and infant supplies.
Time Commitment: Approximately 2 hour/month on Thursday morning between 10am and 2pm. (3 month commitment requested)
